Derick is a results-oriented design and project management specialist. He joined LYNERS in January 2013 as a Design Engineer and was appointed Technical Associate in 2023.
Derick obtained his N Dip (Civil) and NH Dip (Civil) degrees from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 1991 and 1992, respectively, followed by a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Civil Engineering in 1997.

With over three decades of experience in Civil Engineering Consultancy, in South Africa and abroad, Derick has developed a proven track record for delivering significant projects within challenging deadlines and strict budgets. He is highly results-oriented and well-versed in multidisciplinary initiatives.
Derick’s areas of expertise include master planning, feasibility studies, and detailed design for civil services, water supply, wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal. He also specialises in trenchless technology that covers the planning, condition assessment, design and rehabilitation of wastewater, stormwater, and potable water systems.
A skilled leader and motivator, Derick effectively manages teams and sets realistic, achievable goals with accurate resource estimates. Logical and analytical by nature, he takes a proactive approach to problem-solving, making sound business decisions and displaying initiative when seeking solutions.
His excellent communication and interpersonal skills foster trusted relationships with clients, business partners, and stakeholders alike.
