HUGO THERON

Hugo has close to three decades of experience in the civil engineering industry, of which 22 years have been in the design and construction of higher-order roads. He joined LYNERS in 2023. 

Hugo holds a BEng (Civil) degree from Stellenbosch University (1997). 

Professional registration:  

  • Professional Engineer (Pr Eng), Engineering Council of South Africa, 2006 

Membership: 

  • Member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE), 2003 

Hugo’s expertise in civil engineering includes specialising in the design, rehabilitation and construction of national, provincial, municipal, and metro roads. He has extensive experience in pavement and materials engineering, geometric design, surfacing design, and contract administration.

His career is highlighted by the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects for clients such as SANRAL,
Transnet, the Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works, the City of Cape Town, and numerous
municipalities across South Africa. He has also contributed to non-motorised transport planning, road asset
management, and the upgrade of urban and rural road networks.

Known for his strong leadership and project management capabilities, Hugo is actively involved in personnel
management, client liaison, and business development.
