LYNERS provided comprehensive electrical engineering support for the electrification of 413 erven (410 low-cost housing units) in Graafwater, under appointment by ASLA Devco (Pty) Ltd for the Cederberg Municipality. The assignment covered feasibility studies, cost estimation, preliminary and detailed design, as well as full project and construction management, from tender documentation, advertisement, clarifications and evaluation, through to contractor appointment and construction supervision.
Technical scope included design and supervision of a new 22 kV switching station, underground 11 kV primary cabling, miniature substations, and an underground low-voltage reticulation network delivering pre-payment meter connections to each dwelling. Streetlighting was also integrated as part of the design. LYNERS ensured full compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act standards, advising on the appointment of an OHS agent and verifying submission of a site-specific safety plan by the contractor.
With a contract value of approximately R11.5 million, the project delivered bulk and reticulation infrastructure to support sustainable community growth in Graafwater, reflecting effective engineering delivery within a subsidy-housing context.
